I just got the brand new Madonna collection "Finally Enough Love (50 Number Ones)". Three discs filled with amazing remix edits, many rare or previously unreleased. Some of them I even prefer over their album versions, for example "Like A Prayer (7" Remix/Edit)", "Express Yourself (Remix/Edit)" and "Keep It Together (Alternate Single Version)" included on this set.

Olivia Newton-John has passed away

Last night, I heard the awful news: Australian singing icon Olivia Newton-John has passed away after a long struggle with breast Cancer. She was seventy-three years old.

I am gutted and find it really hard to take in. Olivia is one of my all-time favourite singers and her music means so much to me. She had one of the most beautiful voices in the world. I am especially fond of Olivia's eighties albums "Physical", "Soul Kiss", "The Rumour" and "Two Of A Kind". But all her music is great, that voice can make any song a masterpiece.

Most people know Olivia from the movies "Grease" (1978) and "Xanadu" (1980), but she has done so much more. I want to end the blog post with my favourite Olivia song, "Twist Of Fate", from the soundtrack to her movie "Two Of A Kind" (1983). It's amazing. I hope more people discover her music.

Rest in peace, Olivia. You voice will live forever.

Bananarama - Masquerade

I recently got my signed copy of the new Bananarama album "Masquerade", and I love it! It's so nice that my idols are back with yet another fabulous album filled with electronic dance-pop music. Check it out! I hope they will release the amazing track "Running With The Night" as the next single.

Solid Harmonie - Two (Unreleased album finally out)

I grew up listening to girl group Solid Harmonie's amazing 1997 album, so I'm very excited about their unreleased second album "Two" finally being released officially. Originally recorded in 2000 by lineup Beki Onslow, Elisa Cariera and Jenilca Giusti, the album was sadly shelved for different reasons.

Now, twenty-two years later, the album is finally out and you get it digitally or as a limited CD edition The latter comes with two brand new remixes and a nice booklet with a poster. And how does it sounds? Great! It's catchy dance-pop music straight out of the year 2000.

Sheena Easton - A Private Heaven (Reissue)

I'm loving the new remastered and expanded reissue of Sheena Easton's iconic album "A Private Heaven" (1984) from Cherry Pop Records. Two discs packed with bonus tracks, including previously unreleased ones. The album features the singles "Strut", "Swear", the Prince penned "Sugar Walls" and my personal favourite "Hungry Eyes".

Violet Sky - A Heartbeat Away (GlitterWave80s)

A friend recently recommended me the new song "A Heartbeat Away" by Violet Sky and I fell in love with it right away. The backing track was originally produced back in 1988 but sat waiting in an archive until 2021 when Violet Sky (also known as GlitterWave80s on social media) got to record the vocals for it.

The song is an amazing dance-pop song straight from 1988. The sound reminds me of freestyle acts such as Exposé, Sweet Sensation and The Cover Girls. I can't stop listening to it. Go and buy it right away!

New in my record collection: The lovely box set "Old Friend (1976-1998)" with all albums by the fabulous Phyllis Hyman remastered and expanded. Such a nice tribute to the icon who sadly ended her own life in 1995. But her voice lives on forever.
