About me

My name is Dennis Alexis Hellström and I was born on June 25, 1984. I grew up in the countryside outside the Swedish small-town Storvik. I'm currently living in Sandviken, a town not far from Gävle. People usually describe me as a creative person, with a burning passion for music, movies and writing.

In 2002, I started recording music using the ironic alias Bimbo Boy. In 2005, the song "Drama Queen" was submitted to Melodifestivalen, the Swedish pre-selection to the Eurovision Song Contest. It didn't make it to the big show but "Drama Queen" was one of the final one hundred songs considered for the semi-finals.

"Drama Queen" was released as a single in 2006 and became a minor club hit, also charting at number three on CDON's singles chart. In 2012, my italo disco single "Die From A Broken Heart" was released, accompanied by a gay themed anti-bullying video that has over 52,000 views on YouTube.

In 2013, my dear friend Larry Forsberg and I started the synthpop project Eurotix where I'm the lead vocalist. Both Larry and I love eighties music so our sound is inspired by the synthpop and dance music of that era. We have now released several albums and EPs.

I'm also working on a couple of book projects. One of them is an autobiography where I share my experience of panic attacks, bullying and low self-esteem, and also about having an alcoholic father. I hope to help others by telling my story and sharing the strategies that helped me through it.

I love electronic dance, synthpop and disco music, especially from the eighties. I'm also a big fan of soap operas, horror movies and classic films, mainly made between 1930 and 1950. To me, kitsch isn't a bad word and I don't mind people thinking I have "bad taste". There is no right or wrong when it comes to music, just different opinions.

Some people see me as a kind of stereotype because of my interests and say that I give gays a "bad reputation". But it's not like I woke up one day, realised I was gay and thought I have to start listening to disco music and like the colour pink. I'm just being myself, as I've always been.
