I have some great news for all you soap fans out there! According to Coming Soon, 80's prime time soap opera "Dynasty" is being developed as a feature film. It's going to be a prequel and take place in the 60's.I'm really excited about this! The only bad thing about the movie being a prequel is that my idol Joan Collins can't be in it. Joan herself suggested on Twitter that Gemma Alterton should play young Alexis. What do you think?

ReplyDeleteI think they should do a new TV series at the same time ... starting at Blake's funeral which brings them all back into Denver.
ReplyDeleteThe feature film(s) will have to be extremely good so as not to suffer the same disdain many other TV to feature film status. Honestly, I will see it but I am unsure it will be any kind of success in a theater.
she can still be n the movie, she could play alexis's mother... but even if it was a remake set in present day Joan wouldnt have played Alxis... personally i think this is gonna be a hot ass mess! they should have done a re-boot (like they are doing with "dallas") and had all the Carrington kids and made it "Dynasty: the next generation"!
ReplyDeleteA prequel means many of the characters we all love such as Fallon, Sammy Jo and Amanda will not be in it. Krysdull will also not be in it, which takes away all the fun of the rivalry tension.
ReplyDeleteNot sure why they'd do a prequel since it was the whole over-the-top 80's culture that made the show such a hit? Perhaps as a TV movie, it might be alright. But a major motion picture? They'd be better off doing a film about the characters in the show's heyday. 80's are very big right now.

ReplyDeleteThen there gotta be Fallon Amanda Steven even if children ,or Claudia ,Kristle Dex ecc even if in their personal separate stories..
Otherwise it 'll be bored(if there'd be only Alexis and Blake storylines)

ReplyDeleteI'm happy to hear this... Anyway, young actors and actresses have the great responsibility though to carry out Dynasty characters properly. I wish they could perform fine! :)
ReplyDeleteIm all for this pre-quel but hope its done right- I remember a couple Dallas movies that didnt fair out to good - so many of the original Dynasty cast members are dead now ,that could have appeared in this planned movie - they need to still release more of the dvd's - were up to season 5 out of 9 and they only release half seasons once a year- Releasing more seasons if not the whole series on dvd will generate more interest in the show- its been off the air for over 20 years and this new generation dosent know Dynasty to well .............. bring it on- Im a #1 Dynasty fan.........
ReplyDeleteI would love to see Joan Collins and Linda Evans in the film together since they're both the original cast and without them and John Forsythe (but he passed away already), Dynasty will never be on tv..
